Disposal of maker of Blu-Tack would increase French oil major’s sell offs this year to nearly $20bn

A French chemicals group has offered to buy Bostik, the maker of Blu-Tack, for 1.74bn (£1.37bn).

Bostik, which also makes adhesives and sealants used in products ranging from aircraft components and building materials to nappies, is owned by Total, but the French oil major is under pressure from shareholders to improve its cash flow and boost dividends, and has embarked on a programme to sell off businesses.
